Launch new hybrid car

Axon-plugin1_th_3The British maker Axon Automotive has developed a new plug-in hybrid vehicle which can run on 100% electric mode for use in city and either using a small gasoline combustion engine for longer distances or bioethanol.

The company announced that its plug-in hybrid car two seater emits less than 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer by combining electric mode with the gasoline.

“In designing lighter car with good aerodynamics is possible to reduce emissions,” said Dr. Steve Cousins, director of Axon Automotive. “With a plug-in hybrid car does not have limitations on autonomy and we can maximize the benefits of electricity without the weight and cost of large batteries.”

Being an eco-friendly car, Axon said that their seats have been manufactured with recycled textiles and door panels are made of carbon fiber, also recycled.

The British firm says that the first vehicles to start shipping in 2011 and mass production will begin in 2012. Its production is conducted in several small plants located in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Ireland, Denmark and Holland.
