The Fisker Karma offers 27.2 km per liter

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

1908_fisker_karma_debut02_th_3The Fisker Karma has several attractions in which we have been emphasizing: 403 horsepower, an image unpublished, high technology and equipment, etc.. But we talked about the most important thing for a hybrid: its autonomy which according to preliminary tests is 27.2 km per liter.

Unlike other preliminary tests at the launch of a car, Fisker had a body to validate your information: the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). Because the Karma is not yet sold officially, EPA has not tested the car, but their results should be very different. Read the rest of this entry »

Almost centered on the floor, and located near the European exotics,
Fisker Automotive released its Karma sedan to the 2008 North American
International Auto Show crowd.  This
super-sleek and sporty 4-door has a distinctly European luxury look, but with a
design that gives it the shape of a sports coupe.  The most exciting portion of the Fisker Karma
was the drivetrain, as it uses a high tech lithium-ion battery pack with full
plug-in-hybrid capacities for their “Q Drive” powertrain.  Offering maximum torque from a stop, with a
0-60 time of under 6 seconds and a top speed of around 125 miles per hour, this
super efficient sports sedan could make a great deal of noise in the high end
hybrid market.

their models, there will be three cars available in addition
to the Karma.  It is expected that all of
the models will use the same drivetrain and they will be based on the same
basic chassis, both of which help keep development costs down.  These rumors are supported by an early 2008
sneak peak from the head of Fisker of their new convertible/coupe, so with the
Karma on the way, and pictures existing of a drop top model, we expect to see
the company debut at least one of these new models sometime later in 2008, as
Fisker reps have stated that the cars would be available for sale in late
2009.  The goal of Fisker is to have
15,000 cars on the road by 2011, and should the rumors of 4 models rather than
one prove to be true, Fisker is likely to take the market by storm.

Speculations have lead many to believe that the Karma will
have an MSRP around $80,000 USD, and while that seems high it should be
considered against the relatively bland styling of most of the hybrid models
available in the United
States.
While it might make you look eco-friendly to arrive at that big business
meeting in a Prius, rolling into the meeting in a sleek, sexy hybrid luxury
sports sedan has a nice ring to it, and is sure to make a major impression.
